Former ‘Wendy Williams Show’ Intern Files Lawsuit Against The Show’s Production Company

The producers of the gossip-filled television program The Wendy Williams Show is facing a class action lawsuit from one of its former interns. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Tart filed the suit against the Lionsgate entertainment company and its subsidiary Debmar-Mercury claiming the show owes him and other interns payment for the work they performed for the talk show. [ALSO READ: Executive Producer Wendy Williams Reveals Details About Aaliyah Biopic] THR reports: His tasks on the show included washing dishes, getting coffee, picking up art supplies and throwing out garbage, he claims. He’s arguing, in the same fashion as other former interns litigating against their employers, that his work didn’t meet the Department of Labor’s standards for unpaid internships. Tart also argues that the companies did not provide any academic or vocational training. He believes the program would have needed to hire paid employees for the duties he and fellow interns were required to do. The Wendy Williams Show website has a page promoting its internship program.

After thousands of NYPD cops turned their backs on Mayor Bill de Blasio during the funeral of fallen officer Rafael Ramos, many were criticized for the perceived disrespect of Ramos who was slain by a mentally challenged man on December 20. Yet during the recent funeral for Wenjian Liu, the second officer killed during the attack, many within the NYPD was seen doing it again, despite pleas from police commissioner William Bratton not to do so. Officers claim that the Mayor failed to come to their defense following a recent wave of anti-cop sentiments, resulting in a bitter rift between the two. With his back to the mayor, one officer said: “I can’t stand even looking at him. He has no friends here.”
