Frequent Collaborators YG & DJ Mustard Clash Over Not Being Paid

Compton rapper YG and L.A. producer DJ Mustard worked together to create one of the best reviewed rap albums of 2014 with My Krazy Life, but as the year comes to a close the two West Coast representatives are going through some personal strife played out on Instagram. [ALSO READ: These Are The 12 Best Reviewed Hip Hop Albums Of 2014] The public conflict apparently began when Mustard posted a statement to his IG page claiming he was never paid for his work on My Krazy Life. YG screenshot the post, then uploaded it to his page with a message directed at Mustard. The “My N***a” rhymer later posted a picture of his cell phone call log which apparently showed YG attempted to call Mustard several times without an answer. YG posted: Wait what? @djmustard F**K YOU N***A F**K EVERYBODY THATT AINT GOT PAID FOR MY ALBUM and DJ MUSTARD I KNOW WHERE YO STUDIO AT N***A. & …….. THATS ME SAYIN “MUSTARD ON THE BEAT HOE”. YOU AINT NEVER PAID ME FOR THATT OR YO ALBUM N***A Three weeks ago YG and Mustard reconnected to drop “2015 Flow.” The song was a response to My Krazy Life being snubbed for a “Best Rap Album” Grammy nomination. Joe Budden Blasts J Cole For Kendrick Lamar Diss Response: "Call A Killer!"

Reactions to "7 Minute Drill," J Cole's clapback at Kendrick Lamar's diss against him, have been pretty split among the hip-hop community. Everyone seems to be celebrating the back-and-forth as competitive spirit, but the jury's still out on whether it was actually an appropriate, cutting, or worthwhile response. Joe Budden and the rest of the members of his podcast said during their latest episode that the Dreamville boss did not strike gold with this diss track as he likely wanted to. While there were a few different points here, the most salient and reoccurring one in their discussion was that Cole just doesn't have the conviction or energy to back up this aggression.
