Kidnapping victim Amanda Berry made her first public appearance since being freed from a Cleveland home, where she was held captive for ten years.
Berry popped up on the stage at The Roverfest in Cleveland on Saturday (July 27) to a cheering crowd.
After rapper Nelly performed, he called Berry, 27, back to the stage, who received another round of applause.
“I wanna make sure we get a chance to thank you cause I know it’s a long time,” Nelly told Amanda Berry. “I can’t even imagine the type of courage and strength it took to keep it going so, I commend you and thank you.”
Just a day earlier, Amanda Berry’s kidnapper Ariel Castro pleaded guilty to 937 criminal charges, for his role in holding Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight captive for a decade.
During their captivity, Ariel Castro fathered a 6-year-old with Amanda Berry as well.
Ariel Castro pleaded guilty to the charges and will be sentenced to life in prison plus 1,000 years.
